There will be a meeting held at Saluda Shoals on April 19, 2007, for the
agencies and the public that have an interest in the Saluda Hydro Facility
re-licensing that will be accomplished in the next few years. The license
will be for a period of 30 to 50 years so it is important that the stakeholders
be aware of the language in the license.
On April 29, 2005, SCE&G
issued an Intent to Re-license to FERC and an Initial Consultation Document (ICD)
to the stakeholders which began the official re-licensing process. The
agencies and organized stakeholders that are currently involved are DHEC, SCDNR,
Parks Recreation and Tourism, SC Wildlife Federation, Coastal Conservation
League, Trout Unlimited, Friends of the Congaree, Paddlers, League of Women
Voters, Lake Watch and the Lake Murray Association.
April 19, 2007,
meeting is public and if you or your group are interested in attending one of
the meeting, please follow the instructions in the box below issued by Kleinschmidt Associates, who have been hired by SCE&G to coordinate the
licensing procedure. Please note there are two times given for the meetings.
Each meeting will have the same agenda.
The Lake Murray
Association is working with all of the groups listed above in an effort to reach
a consensus as to what the concerns of the people who use Lake Murray are.
