Once
again the LMA is assisting the 4H branch of the Clemson Extension Service in
offering a class to teach young people about Lake Murray and how to protect
it. This year the program has been revised to include 5 full days of
activities. The dates of the class are June 9 through June 13, 2008 and the
hours are 8:30 to 4:30 every day. This program has been extremely popular
in the past and we are looking forward to offering the expanded version this
year.
The program is
open to youths ages 10 to 12 and will be run at the SCE&G recreation area at
the Lexington end of the dam. The tuition is $100 per youth.
The
participants will learn such things as the history of the lake, the
watershed that feeds the lake, what activities pollute the lake, and what
aquatic life (big and small) lives in the lake among others.
There also will
be fun things such as swimming, fishing, eating, boat rides, and more.
The program is
open to a maximum of 20 students and reservations must be made by May 18.
